We have started off the week getting busy with counting, capital letters and thinking about the differences between old and new houses!

English- Capital letters

First we sorted capital letters from their lower case equivalents. We worked in teams and discussed any tricky letters between us. Great team work and communication!

We continued to learn lots about capitals. We reminded ourselves of the capital and lower case letters with some Jack Hartmann exercise. Then we learnt the name of our own capital letter and we painted it. When the letters are dry we will add the gems to show how special our letters are!

Birthday girl, Betty!

We enjoyed celebrating Betty's birthday from the weekend. She enjoyed leading the class around to our Year 1 birthday song! Thank you for the delicious cakes, Betty!

Maths

This week we have been thinking all about numbers! We have started with counting and estimating.

Houses

We have begun our castle topic. We have started by looking at something we know very well: houses! We looked at the differences between old and new houses and sorted pictures between very, very old and newer. Great team work and discussions. Thank you for sending in the photographs of your own houses. Using these we decided if the children's own houses were old or new.

Forest School

We had a lovely time playing in the forest. We made a "fire", a home for wild gerbils and even did a bug hunt!
