What is Forest Bathing?

This Japanese practice is a process of relaxation; know in Japan as shinrin yoku. The simple method of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, observing nature around you whilst breathing deeply can help both adults and children de-stress and boost health and wellbeing in a natural way.

Forest Bathing is one of my favourite things to do and although during lockdown it is harder to get to the woods its still a lovely thing to do in your garden. Pick somewhere sunny and quiet, lunchtime is often a good time especially when you need a break from work.  To help you relax allocate a certain amount of time and set an alarm.  Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and concentrate on the natural smells, sounds and textures around you.  Let the birds and bees serenade you and just relax.
