English

This week in English, we have been continuing to practise retelling stories using our voices for expression, our body gestures and changing our facial expressions. Then, we made our own  character props to help us retell the story. We also learnt what makes a sentence and what does not.

At the end of the week, Year 1 received a letter from Claire, from our 'On the way home' story. She revealed that she hadn't been lying about the villains she met on her way home and asked the Year 1s to help prove this. The Year 1s went to investigate and look what they found... The villains have visited Thorngrove school! They decided to take photos as evidence and then write captions next to them, to let Mr Graham know that naughty villains have been lurking on the school grounds!

Maths

This week in maths, we have been comparing and ordering numbers, suing the words greater than and lesser than and using the 'crocodile' symbols < > and =.

Enrichment Volunteers

The Year 1 children were invited to participate in the enrichment activities the senior school children were providing.

Geography

Year 1 learnt about human and physical features and then identified these on our school grounds. They used their bird's eye view maps to locate the human and physical features and then marked these on their map.

PSHE

The Year 1s have thought about what makes a good friend this week.
