Castles!

We started learning the names and functions of the parts of stone keep castles. Beau did an excellent demonstration of how battlements were used and why they were so good at keeping people safe but also how they allowed people to look out and fire weapons. We are looking forward to seeing these for real on our Windsor Castle trip soon!

We had our first ever rehearsal for our much anticipated play! There promises to be lots of sparkle, dancing, laughs and toe tapping tunes. Well done to everyone who has had a try at learning their words. Keep practising!

We have started learning about Knights. We found out how people became knights. We had our very own dubbing ceremony so Year 1 are now ready to defend the king!

We made some fantastic Catherine Wheels. We were so amazed to see how the colour from the Skittles dissolved into the water, creating a beautiful pattern.

Children in Need is next Friday!

Mrs McSorland and the school council showed us the Children in Need merchandise that will be on sale next week. There is a fabulous array- teddies, wrist bands that double up as hair bands, a multi-function ruler, a bag, ears (one light up!) and badges. We can't wait!

School council have also thought of ideas for us to enjoy during the day. A letter will be sent out giving more details.

ICT

We always enjoy ICT and we are learning lots of new skills on the Chrome Books each week.

The highlight of our week!

The highlight of our week was surely the joint History lesson in the woods with our Year 7 friends. We made Motte and Bailey castles in groups and enjoyed hot chocolates. There was some fabulous team work and sharing of ideas. The Year 7s were amazed by the knowledge that the Year 1s had!

Happy Birthday, Tom!

We really enjoyed celebrating Tom's birthday. Thank you for the delicious cakes and I am looking forward to hearing all about your Science party on Monday!

Poppy Day

We made our own poppies and went to the remembrance day ceremony to remember the soldiers who have died in wars.
