Oxford Science Centre

A fun and informative trip to Oxford Science Centre was the perfect way to bring our learning about light from last term, and our learning about forces, from this term, to life. We had great fun making our own Rube Goldberg machine using forces. There was a great buzz as ideas were shared, models were built, concepts were tested and resilience called on as not everything always went to plan. What fantastic opportunities to problem solve and work as a team. The results were really creative!

We enjoyed a light show where we learnt about light sources, how light travels, how light passes through different objects and how light refracts and reflects. Great excitement only enhanced by a brief interlude for the fire alarm (due to our use of the smoke machine!)

After a good lunch we were then treated to time in the exploration zone where we could test, explore and enjoy to our heart's consent.

It was a really wonderful day!

Riddle poems in English. Can you guess what we are?

Looking at Magnets in Science

We enjoyed making up our own class poem about chocolate (and yes of course we had to have some chocolate for inspiration purposes!)

We enjoyed sharing our poems with the rest of the class!

Using 'found language,' to write our own poems.

Monday Mile

The weekly Monday Mile is a wonderful way to start the week and we enjoy catching up with friends and siblings as we exercise. Even better this week were the links that we could make between Children's Mental Health Week and physical exercise, having fun and being outside. All things which help to boost our mental health.

In Science we have been making magnet mazes

Hot choccie out in the woods!

Chinese New Year

We enjoyed time out in the woods today. We thought about Chinese New Year and the animals that the years are named after. We created our own picture frames in which to make a Chinese New Year animal. Can you guess which ones we made?

An impromptu concert from Betty as part of some well-earned chill out time!

The charity aerobathon

We had so much fun in the aerobathon today led by our fabulous Games' Team and Mr Hart. There was neon galore, music and lots of movement. I think we will all sleep well tonight!

There's still time to donate to our very worthwhile charities- Medical Detection Dogs and Cancer via Just Giving.

Happy birthday, Isai!

Class assembly

I was so proud of 3M today who chose and created their own assembly to share with 3L and Year 4. They wanted to talk about plastic and were able to share lots of videos and facts that kept the audience captivated and amazed. You could have heard a pin drop!

Well done, 3M!

It was time for a show on Wednesday!

An amazing trip to Oxenwood!

We had the most amazing day at Oxenwood, led by Dominus!

We had great fun learning all about the army, including how they were organised, what they wore, their weapons, their training and way of life.

We also practised some of the battle tactics such as the tortoise formation which was, in part why the Roman army was so successful.

We had a chance to look at different artefacts and watch a gladiator fight between the strong and mighty Gilbert and Isai!

What a brilliant day packed full of learning brought to life.
